Sustainable design

Save energy and reduce green house gas emissions with insulation, ventilation and sarking.

The roof of any home plays a critical role in determining how comfortable that home will be to live in.  To ensure you get the maximum benefit from your roof, Bristile Roofing recommends the use of insulation, ventilation and sarking.

Insulation
A product such as Bradford Gold Insulation is made up of millions of tiny air cells that slow the transfer of heat through your ceiling to help regulate the temperature within living spaces all year round.  When you consider that up to 42% of a home's heat can be transferred through the ceiling alone, its not hard to understand the important role insulation can play in keeping your home more comfortable.

Roof sarking is installed under roof tiles and is an impermeable reflective foil membrane that can reflect up to 95% of radiant heat away from the roof space.   Roof sarking under tiles is increasingly popular with smart home builders due to: the reflective heat barrier it forms, weatherproofing function, bush fire protection and dust barrier it creates.  Installing roof sarking in your ceiling space will help minimise the loss of heat in winter, keep your home cool during summer, and help reduce energy use all year round.

The final key component of an effective roofing system is roof ventilation.  A wind powered ventilation system such as those supplied by Edmonds ventilation plays the key role of minimising temperature build up in the roof space by extracting trapped hot air and replacing it with cooler, ambient air from outside.  In fact, in a controlled testing conducted by Edmonds in suburban Sydney, the roof space of a house using ventilation proved to be 10% cooler than a neighbouring home of the same design without ventilation.

Used together, insulation, ventilation and sarking can significantly reduce amount of energy required for heating and cooling your home while saving money on energy bills, and ensuring more pleasant and enjoyable living conditions all year round.
